Wordle is an easy-to-learn but difficult to master word game that is played in browsers. While players can learn to play Wordle better with the training bot called WordleBot, they will first have to learn the rules. Here’s a quick breakdown of how to play.

Players need to go to the New York Times Games website to play the original Wordle. There are many copycats and clones of Wordle, this is the original. Everything in this article pertains to the NYTs version; any other version will have different answers and may have slightly different rules. Choose a starting Wordle word. It needs to be five letters long and a real English word. Type it into the NYTs Games website and press enter. The letters will change colors based on whether they are right or not. Green letters are correct and in the right place. Yellow letters are correct but in the wrong place. Gray are incorrect. Using these clues, players have a grand total of six tries to get to the answer of the day. The answers to Wordle puzzles can contain duplicated letters. Puzzle reset at midnight local time every day.
Wordle fans can access the stats menu and the spoiler-free share button. Stats in this menu include win streak, guess distribution, puzzles played, and total wins. As long as players use the same device and browser every day, they should be able to access these stats for themselves.
