How To Play Wordle
While there are loads of Wordle clones and copycats out there, everything in this article will be all about the browser-based original game that can only be found on the New York Times Games site. It’s been hosted there since the NYTs purchased the game back in February. Here’s how to play:

Head to the NYTs Games site and look for Wordle. Choose a starting Wordle word. It must be five letters long and a real English word. Type the starting word into the site and press enter. The letters will change color to give the player clues to the real answer. Green letters are correct, gray are wrong, and yellow are right but in the wrong place in the word. Players have six total tries to get to the answer. Most offensive and non-American versions of word have been censored from Wordle by the New York Times. Puzzle reset daily at midnight local time.
Once the puzzle is complete, players will get access to the Wordle menu. This is where the spoiler-free share button; if word puzzle fans have seen the little green, yellow, and gray squares on a friend’s social media, this is most likely where they got it from. The menu also has stats which include things like win streaks, total puzzles players, and guess distribution for all puzzles played on that specific device and browser.
