Wordle is a browser-based game now owned by the New York Times. This is the original version, and all hints and rules will be about this version of the game. The NYTs Games site can be accessed from any device with a browser, so players will need to head there to play Wordle. Here’s how to do it:

Once at the NYT Games site, choose a starting Wordle word to get started. It needs to be five letters and a real English term. Type the starting word into the site and press enter. The color of the letters will change. Green letters are right. Gray are wrong. Yellow letters are correct but in the wrong place in the word. Wordle answers can contain duplicated letters. They are usually the American versions of words. Players have a total of six tries to guess the word of the day. Puzzles reset at midnight local time daily, meaning there is only one puzzle per day.
