The game is color-coded, so when a letter is in the right position it will turn green. Any letters that are in the word but have been placed in the wrong position will turn yellow. Letters that aren’t in the word at all will turn gray.

The Origins of Wordle
The brainteaser was developed by software engineer Josh Wardle, who initially intended it to be played by him and his partner Palak Shah.
He started working on the game in 2013 and returned to the project during the COVID pandemic. Wordle was launched to the public in October 2021 and quickly attracted a global publication.
In January 2022, Wardle sold his creation to The New York Times for an undisclosed seven-figure sum and the puzzle moved over to the newspaper’s website in February.

Wardle suggests that players spend their first few attempts eliminating as much of the alphabet as possible.
Additionally, we recommend that your first try be a word that contains plenty of vowels, such as AUDIO. You should also avoid less common letters such as X, Q or Z, until you have a better grasp of what the word might be.

The Merriam-Webster dictionary defines an aphid as “any of numerous very small soft-bodied homopterous insects (superfamily Aphidoidea) that suck the juices of plants.”
