Luckily, Newsweek is on hand to provide some tips for those players who need a little help to solve the daily brain teaser.

Wordle is a global phenomenon with millions of daily players, this is in part due to the game’s simplicity.

Players are required to solve the puzzle by guessing a five-letter word within six tries or less.

A green tile indicates the letter is right and in the correct position, a yellow tile means the letter is right but in the wrong place while a gray square means the letter is not in the word at all.

Software engineer Josh Wardle created Wordle as a game for him to play with his partner and it was released to the world in October 2021.

Within months, Wordle went from being an intimate experience with dozens of active users to being played by millions worldwide.

The dramatic rise in popularity led The New York Times to purchase the game for an undisclosed seven-figure sum in January. It remains free to play.

Wordle’s popularity has led other creators to make their own games including the map-based Worldle and the math game Nerdle.
